From Figma to Full SaaS in 7 Days: How I Built ClientOS Using AI

If you ask an AI to "build me an app," you are going to get generic, unusable AI slop.

The barrier to entry for building software has dropped to zero. You no longer need a $50,000 budget and a dedicated engineering team to launch a SaaS MVP. But while tools like Lovable can write the code in seconds, they cannot invent a premium user experience out of thin air.

Recently, I needed to build ClientOS, a fully functional multi-project management tool featuring drag-and-drop mechanics and secure multiplayer workspaces. As a designer who doesn't do much heavy coding anymore, I had a strict deadline of one week.

I went from a blank rectangle in Figma to a fully deployed web app in under 7 days using Lovable. Here is the exact workflow, the prompts I used, and the design secret that made it actually work.

Why I Chose Lovable for the Build

There are dozens of no-code and AI builders on the market, but I chose Lovable for this specific MVP because the AI is incredibly smart and straightforward.

  • Zero Infrastructure: It is incredibly beginner-friendly. I didn't have to worry about spinning up a server, configuring a CMS, or handling deployment pipelines. It just exists, and it works.
  • Instant Feedback Loop: The platform builds the code, lets you see it, allows you to test it, and deploys it in a minute.
  • Scalability: Unlike rigid website builders, Lovable outputs a structure that scales easily as the app grows.

Solving the Drag-and-Drop Nightmare

In traditional development, building a smooth drag-and-drop interface for a to-do board takes days of tweaking physics and state management.

With Lovable, I had to be strategic with my prompting. Instead of just asking it to "make things draggable," I explicitly prompted the AI to "use existing libraries for the drag and drop feature and create a nice drag and drop feel."

By pointing it toward established libraries and focusing on the "feel," the AI understood the assignment perfectly. It handled the complex physics, and I only had to step in for minor visual fixes after implementation.

The Multi-Player Hurdle (That Wasn't)

Building a system for inviting members, handling different user roles, and securing the data is usually the hardest part of an MVP. Surprisingly, with Lovable, it was the easiest part of the entire week.

I didn't have to architect a complex database schema. I just gave the AI plain-English instructions:

  • “Allow me to invite other people to the project.”
  • “Make it so I can invite with a link only—no email required.”
  • “Give me the ability to remove a person from the project.”
  • “Create a PIN code to enter the project, which only the admin can see.”

Lovable understood that these features required security and automatically handled the backend logic to make it safe and functional.

The 7-Day Speed Test

Normally, I wouldn't even know where to start building a backend like this. But with this AI workflow, I went from start to finish in under a week.

This wasn't just a clickable prototype; it was an actual, working web app. The entire build, from blank canvas to deployment, took about 50 targeted prompts.

The Secret to AI Apps: Design First

Here is the reality of the current AI development wave: You can build an app incredibly easily, but if you start prompting without a design system in mind, your app will fail.

The reason ClientOS works—and looks like a premium SaaS product—is because I am a designer first. I designed the entire app and its marketing site in Figma before I ever wrote a prompt. The AI was simply executing my vision, not inventing it.
